My thoughts on Huckabee, Moore and health

I’m going to give a grocery list (nothing fattening of course!) of my thoughts about this past week’s discussion about the health of the United States and the latest addition of fairy tales paraded as truth by the spin-master, Michael Moore.

  • People in the media and on message boards across the internet are taking Mike Huckabee’s views about Health and Health Care out of context. Yes, it is true he says that if each American would take responsibility for whatever unhealthy behavior(s) they have and begin to take positive steps to change those behaviors that we would reduce health care costs. I have seen several people raking the Governor over the coals, because just telling people not to be fat won’t give access to care for people with sick babies or whatever. Listen carefully to the Governor when he talks about the money that would be saved if people lived healthier lives (it is no secret that the vast majority of illnesses in this country are directly linked to three behaviors: eating too much, exercising too little, and smoking) … he clearly states that the money saved would more than pay for access to care for all Americans! And not just tertiary care (the care that comes after a person is already sick), but in preventive care as well.

  • Perhaps the biggest lies from this week come from Meghan O’Hara, the producer of the latest Moore movie. First she questioned Governor Huckabee’s motives for attacking Moore and accused him of angling for campaign donations from insurance companies since he’s raised just about no money and sparked zero interest since jumping into the race.  Let’s see, in the first quarter of this year, Governor Huckabee raised $544,000, and that was before the debates, the media attention and the rapidly growing blog list in support of Huckabee for President. ZERO INTEREST? In Mike Huckabee? I don’t think so! Obviously Ms. O’Hara is living under a rock somewhere (or under the shadow of Michael Moore), and is not in touch with what is really going in America.

I’ll be writing more about health in the coming weeks and months, and especially about the rapidly growing support for Mike Huckabee. This is the leader America needs in this time of turmoil in the world and here at home. We need a person of strong, unwavering convictions … a person of good moral character … a person of intelligence, common sense and out-of-the-box thinking. A person not enmeshed with  Washington politics or lobbyists. Another man from Hope … he brings hope to a weary and worried nation.

Stay strong…
