The pundits didn't know this?
There has been a great deal of fussing and fuming about Mike Huckabee remaining in the race for the presidency. As he says repeatedly, this is an ELECTION, not a coronation … why shouldn’t the rest of the country have a choice? But an article in the Los Angeles Times made me wonder if this is really news to the pundits and analysts:
In an interview with a San Antonio radio station this morning, Mike Huckabee essentially confirmed the suspicions of many analysts. He’s hanging on in the Republican presidential nomination fight hoping to keep John McCain from winning enough delegates to get the nomination on the first ballot at the Republican National Convention in September.
Are they really that dense that this is news to them? Of course the Huckabee campaign is trying to keep McCain from getting 1191 delegates and take it to the convention … by remaining in the race, Gov. Huckabee gives conservatives in the states that have not yet voted the opportunity to vote for a true conservative, and to stop McCain from getting the nomination.
In other items, I am disgusted that the democrats will be having another debate before the March 4th primaries, while the media refuses to hold a republican debate (under great pressure from the McCain campaign no doubt). If they held a republican debate, it would let too many people know the truth: that John McCain has not been crowned the nominee and that Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul are actually still running for the GOP nomination! The media of course is (mostly) very liberal, so it serves them well to have McCain as the nominee, because then they don’t have to worry about having a pesky conservative in the Oval Office. The media doesn’t want Huckabee in the race, much less the nomination, because he is the truly a threat to the liberal agenda, and the only one who could beat the dems.
There is hope, but only if conservatives in states such as Texas and Ohio will stand up and stand against the media and John McCain. You must go to the polls on March 4th and take everyone you know …. you must vote for Mike Huckabee – for this country, for your family, for all who believe in the sanctity of all human life. We can do this, but we must stand with Mike Huckabee and not be beaten down by McCain and the media liberals.

Good post. I’ve been so busy with school I hadn’t really even thought about the fact that there hasn’t been a Republican debate since before Romney dropped out of the race.
There has been a lot of speculation as to who actually canceled the debate and why it was canceled. I am still not sure about that. One thing I do know, for John McCain to debate Mike Huckabee would be an entirely different kind of debate than has been seen before. Huckabee remains civil, even when the debate is heated. McCain has a reputation for a fiery temper, which we have seen in the previous debates, but he has always remained civil to Huckabee. However, he has to realize that he stands no chance of winning a one on one debate with Huckabee.
I want a debate! The voters should have the right to hear these candidates speak.
Absolutely! I want a debate, too! Just wrote about this yesterday. Sorry I haven’t been here in quite awhile. It’s very time consuming staying current with the election. Didn’t know if you were ever able to view my blog. I still have you linked up. Would love to be on your Huckabee Blogroll. Thanks for your updates! Leinani
I thought you might be interested in our new Huckabee video, “A Call to Texans.” You can view the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhApGSuT2BY
Please post this on your blog and pass it on to all your friends in Texas!
I’m curious about your feeling about the SNL appearance. Specifically, do you think it may have helped and do you think it reflected well on him? (I realize it’s off topic, but wasn’t sure where else to ask.)
Ben – in the big scheme of things, I don’t think an appearance on SNL is relevant good or bad. Obama and McCain have both done SNL.
Governor Huckabee needs to hold Senator McCain’s feet ot the fire on getting him to debate!
As to the SNL performance, Mike is becoming a very loved individual, regardless of his campaign. This media event has done him great respect as to his character and how his staying in the race is much more then him sticking around for fun, it has real consequence for our future.
Recent poll of likely Republican voters has Huckabee and McCain in a virtual tie, 41% and 42% respectively. Ohiio delegates are unbound untill the first vote, so they cannot be used to determine the outcome until the Convention!
