That’s the current temperature of my little sweetie, so while I’m busy being mom, I thought I’d throw out some topics that I would like your opinions on …
- The Olympic torch is having trouble on its journey around the world with human rights protestors blocking its path. What do you think about the Olympics being in China? Should the United States compete or not? Should President Bush boycott the opening ceremony if we do participate?
- The three “main” presidential candidates are all senators. They haven’t spent much time doing their current jobs, but they are all managing to make time to show up at the senate tomorrow for the report from General Petraeus. What do you think about three senators not attending to their jobs, but showing up when they smell a good “press” opportunity?
- Over 400 children have been removed from the compound of the rogue mormon sect in Texas. I was afraid that it would turn into another “Waco”, but so far no fires have been set. What are your thoughts on this whole situation?
- Who’s going to win the NCAA Basketball final tonight? Kansas or Memphis? Memphis played a good game taking out UCLA the other night, but Kansas’ roll over UNC was amazing. In honor of my friend Ronnica, I’m going with Kansas.
Talk to me!
Kerry

1. Fortunately, the UN has urged China to avoid violence in Tibet. Shwoo, we can rest easy now that they stepped in.
2. I still say governors make better presidents. So, in this case, I think it’s great that they haven’t been in Washington. I wish the rest of the senators would follow their lead. I don’t think we need any more congressional investigations on steroids in baseball.
3. Eerily similar to David Koresh. A terrible story and a unfair reflection on mainstream LDS. Isn’t it sad when a religion is distorted to enforce submission and perpetrate evil. And that the men willingly participate, afraid to stand up? Many parallels can be drawn to radical Islam.
4. Basketball? April is NFL draft month. Geaux Saints!
1. The USA is in no position financially to be pissing off China. They nearly own us.
2. First, it’s expected and good that the 3 candidates will be there for Petraeus; second, I can’t read their hearts or minds to say why they’ve decided to be there; third, about their records of not attending to their jobs, it stinks big time, particularly in the cases of Barrack “All Time Missed Votes Leader” Obama and John “Missed Votes 2008 Leader” McCain.
3. Also similar to the recent case of the Nuwaubians and Dwight York (a/k/a As Sayyid Isa Haadi al Mahdi), charged w/over 100 counts of child molestation. Now if our government, which rightly exercised it’s obligation to protect the innocent children here, could only see the fetus as an innocent life worthy of protection.
4. I think it’s cool that both final teams were from states Huckabee won – just a coincidence? (yeah, o.k., maybe it is)
1. From a missions committee member’s point of view, the olympics coming to China has been a good thing. Our missionaries were able to have less government scrutiny for a time as they tried to appear more normal to outsiders. It is still a perilous country. But I don’t know that much would be different if we protested the Olympics. It might make things worse for the Ameriocans that are there especially the ones doing the Lord’s work.
2. I think all of the presidential contenders still standing are showboaters.
3. I don’t watch TV and so cannot comment on this.
4. I’ll go with Memphis as my in-laws live there.
Thanks for rooting for Kansas with me. I’m sure that’s what put them over the top!
Not being around in the 80s the thought of boycotting an Olympics because of the host country’s politics is new to me. I don’t know what I think about the whole situation. I’m glad the Tibetans are getting press, but at the same time I don’t agree with all their tactics.
