Wondering Why …
- …”Gold” fish are orange (as my 7 year old daughter wondered)
- ,,,Democrats are thrilled to seat Al Franken in the US Senate, but so many seem to think Caroline Kennedy is not qualified.
- …There aren’t more CEOs like Daniel Amos – the head “duck” at AFLAC – who made his own decision to remove the “golden parachute” from his contract.
- … It is enjoyable to disagree and debate with some people (and still be friends), while others are just disagreeable.
- … Our neighbor was mowing his concrete driveway at 7 am this morning.
- … Folks were complaining at the gas station this morning about fuel costing $1.79/gallon. That’s still almost $3.00 less than we were paying in July.
- … Basset hounds howl in their sleep – but only in the middle of the night and never during the day. It’s a sound that could make you call Ghost Busters!
- … NCAA Football can’t come up with a playoff system that brings a true, undisputed national champion. Football games have clear winners and losers, but the current BCS system brings too many losers every year. For me, Boise was the national champs a couple of years ago when they went unbeaten and took down Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. This year – even though “the” game hasn’t been played yet between Florida and Oklahoma, there is only one team at this level who is unbeaten – the University of Utah (who took down Alabama in fine fashion this weekend) and they should have a shot at the championship.
- … Dianne Feinstein is really upset. Is it because she really doesn’t like Obama’s choice of Leon Panetta to run the CIA or because the President-elect didn’t ask for her help?

Have you and Hannah figured out why the gold fish are orange yet? If you do, let me know.
I can not imagine, for the life of me, how anyone could think Al Franken could be qualified to be in the United States Senate. I mean, come on, he is a comedian, not someone who is qualified to help run our country. (Not that it matters, from the looks of some of our so-called leaders.)
It is nice to be able to agree to disagree among friends. It’s much more fun to debate that way.
Gasoline is $1.59 today, here in the Fort Smith area. That’s much better than $3.59.
I don’t know a lot about NCAA football, but my brother is a huge OU fan. I think he would agree, that if OU wins against Florida, he would be happy to see them face Utah, just to make sure the champion was undisputed.
Larry – one of Hannah’s favorite things to do at Meijer (big grocery store) is to stop and see the fish. Today she was asking what kind of fish they were. I told her neons, angel fish, and “gold fish”. At that she looked at me and said “no, orange fish”. Like I had obviously lost my ability to determine what color something is. She’s right of course … they aren’t gold.
Oh my, I wasn’t thinking about you being in Oklahoma. I’m not really loyal to Florida, but I am proud of Tim Tebow and the fine image he puts on homeschooling.
From what I can understand, Tim Tebow is a fine young man and he does both homeschooling and Florida proud.
I really gave Ron from Preacherpen’s Desk a hard time the other day. He is a major Florida fan and when he did a post about the upcoming game, I went over there and commented like this.
BOOMER SOONER!!
We both got a laugh out of that.
Great post!
I actually had a few chuckles which I so need ed this morning as I am sitting at the Sabura dealership awaiting repairs. Not one of my favorite things to do! LOL
Daniel Amos is my hero! You think he might consider taking over the RNC?
We are currently paying 1.77 here in the White Mountains. It’s really weird. It has been vacillating from 1.52 to 1.77. I never know what the price will be that day. Is it doing that in Ohio?
As far as Al Franken goes, I think he fits right in with the “comedians” that are currently being chosen to lead our country. I have come to understand that being “qualified is no longer necessary to run for office. You just have to cheat, steal, lie, promise, manipulate, and do whatever it takes to win. Sportsmanship is a thing of the past – or so it appears.
Here’s a something “I am wondering.” Why do we have to have 45 mile an hour winds which make it -15 outside? It was so cold I got brain freeze and I hadn’t eaten ice cream! Brrrrr!
Good morning Dominique! So good to see you this morning. If congress is full of comedians, then they really are doing a rotten job, because they just make me cry.
Regarding the wind chill thing, I could give you the meteorological explanation, but I’ll spare you and just say it’s January, and if you live in the northern half of the country, it’s likely to be cold. I hate to tell you that in the next 5-7 days (maybe a little later for you), the coldest air of the season is heading this way with a very strong wind front. They are predicting windchills to be pushing 30 below zero or worse.
We were fluctuating on gas prices, but it looks like this increase may stick. I know the prices here in northern indiana have been running a little lower than where we lived in Michigan. Either way, it’s so much better than $4.50/gallon!
Hi.I am a basset and live in england so have no idea of life in America.I have been told that I sometimes howl in my sleep but not in the middle of the night. It is mostly when I am taking up all of the sofa or lying in front of the fire
On the gold fish … I don’t know.
However, I love that Hannah loves to look at the fish in the stores. I used to do that when I was young. My boys aren’t really into it, but I’m hoping that I can win over Eagle when she’s a bit older.
I don’t understand about Al Franken. I agree that Caroline Kennedy doesn’t deserve the nod, but what I’ve been wondering is about the number of Republicans commenting on her use of “you know.” Did they notice the President they’ve been defending for the past eight years? I’m not sure that verbal prowess is a credible argument.
On disagreeing … As Larry said, I think it’s a question of who and how. There are some liberal bloggers with whom I agree on just about nothing, but we’re polite and respectful with each other, so it’s a pleasure to talk. Other people just want to tear everyone else down.
People like to complain. If the station gave five free gallons to every customer, they’d complain that they couldn’t get free Premium, or that five isn’t enough, or that they had to wait in line.
Oh, I’ve wondered #4. I enjoy a good discussion/argument, but not with just anybody!
I should probably agree with your thoughts about the BCS, but I hardly want the playoff thing to happen in reality. It’s a good idea I think, and I would enjoy it, but we have a bad time in post-season play lately, so we’d probably not fair well. Which is probably an argument FOR it! I am hoping tomorrow night we’ll turn around.
