Today marks the one year anniversary of our much too early loss of our basset hound, Maxine Precious. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about Max and missed the dog we lovingly referred to as the “empress of the universe”. I’m sure there will be many more basset hounds in my life (we already have Sophie), but there will never be another Max. I miss that dog. I miss our “chats” and hearing about how hard it is being a basset hound. She was the best listener, and a good and patient friend.

Has it been one year already since Maxine left your family? It’s weird how time flies by. I hope you and your family have a good day.
Oh, I know how hard these anniversaries are. Especially, the first one. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Your Maxine looks a lot like my precious Lily. I am sure they are together looking down on us.
Maxine is very beautiful.

I thought the same thing when I first saw a picture of Lily. Max was very beautiful and the sweetest basset I have ever known.
You know, the Lord gave us these animals to love and cherish, but only for a season. My wife and I miss the dogs we’ve had over the years; they become part of the family.
We rescued a Schnauzer/Scottie mix from a pound a couple of years ago, and his name was Maxx. What a sweet, loving dog. He quickly became the property of our two grandchildren.
Maxx died after he filled his belly with sago palm nuts – those things are death to dogs. We still miss him and speak of him often. We also miss Ceasar and Lady, two lovable Australian terriers.
Thanks for such a warm post.
