Just Believing

My daughter Hannah was sitting in a chair yesterday looking out a window. I asked her what she was doing. She replied “Oh, just believing”.  I asked her what she was just believing, and she told me “Oh, that God loves me”.

“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of  God like a child will not enter it at all.”       Luke 18:17

That little girl never ceases to amaze me with the things she comes up with. She sounds like she is truly special.

From the mouth of babes! That made me smile!

That is wonderful. What a comfort to hear those words come from your daughter’s lips – I pray that the Lord encourages you daily.

Like the previous posters I found the statement of faith by little Hannah inspirational. It also reminded me again that the essence of Christianity is Christ and the Holy Spirit living and abiding in our hearts.
While church buildings (outward temples) and assembling with other believers are important, the true roots of our faith are in our inner being. We need to feed upon the written word (the Scriptures) and meditate and pray upon the Living Word (Christ) so that this inner man is well nourished and established, especially if in times of sickness, incapacity or persecution we do not have recourse to church services, sacraments or the fellowship of other believers. This quiet nourishment of faith in the hearts of believers has sustained many throughout history in dark and isolated times of suffering and persecution. This inner meditation of the heart and mind serves us in good times as well.

    Wow.

I wish I spent more time sitting around just believing that God loves me.

What a wonderful girl! Thanks for sharing that!

That’s what we need to be doing regularly, huh?

That’s true Ronnica. A simple statement from a young child, but at the same time instructive and profound. No doubting, no questioning, “just believing”.

My wife and I have two wonderful granddaughters who come up with little sayings, too. You must have been thrilled to pieces hearing what she had to say. Hannah is undoubtedly a very special little girl; you are blessed beyond words to be her mom.

  10. What a peaceful image. I am going to spend some time today doing just what Hannah was doing. Believing….

Kiss that little girl for us!
