Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT; Dodd heads the Banking Committee and is a major player in two big areas: solving the housing foreclosure and financial crises and putting together an overhaul of the U.S. health care system), and Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND; chairs the Budget Committee. He, too, shares an important role in the health care debate, as well as on legislation to curb global warming) have both said they never received any special deals from Countrywide Mortgage Company (a lead player in what has brought us to this current financial mess). However, a transcript of testimony from a Countrywide employee to the Senate ethics committee suggests they did know they were getting sweetheart deals under an unofficial program called “Friends of Angelo” (Angelo Mozilo, the former CEO of Countrywide).
Read the AP story HERE. Somebody’s lying. Of course Senators Dodd and Conrad would NEVER lie to us, would they? And of course these two men who lead key financial committees in the U.S. Senate would NEVER lie to us or accept special treatment from big money players, would they?

Now why in the world would you think these Senators would do something like lie to the people who have voted them in office?
Seriously, I am afraid we would be shocked if we knew how much of this kind of thing actually take place. I wonder where they get their sense of entitlement?
The sad part Larry is that this is likely very minor compared to other things that go on.
It seems that far too many of our elected officials are either figuratively “in bed” with lobbyists or literally “in bed” with someone other than their spouse.
