Friday Flyer

  • One week into my new job. The most difficult part of this is being away from Hannah so much.
  • The tenant in the house we are going to rent is not making much progress in packing or moving his stuff out. We are still in a very small roadside motel (there is no phone, and if I dry my hair with more than one light on, I blow a fuse). Besides just needing to get our family out of one room, our funds are nearly depleted and I won’t get my first paycheck for another two weeks. I ask that you continue to pray for our family.
  • My husband sprung the dogs from their kennel a few days ago. They are set up nice and cozy in the garage at the house we’re moving to. They have their beds, bowls and free access to the huge backyard. We can see that they have already created their paths to various parts of the yard. I don’t know if all dogs do this, but Nell and Sophie habitually follow the same routes in their yard. There is typically a perimeter path and then a giant ‘X’ running from all four corners to the center of the yard. I understand this need in the winter when the snow is deep, but it is funny to go out and call them and see them both head for their nearest path on a summer day.
  • The only news I’m aware of right now is that Senator Ted Kennedy died has died. When Sen. Kennedy put out a statement last week urging Massachusetts to change their law regarding filling an empty Senate seat, I thought that was a likely sign that his death was imminent.

Good to hear from you again, Kerry. Hopefully, your house will be cleared out quickly and your family will be able to move in.

As for the dogs and their paths, I have noticed that as well. Whenever I have had a dog in my back yard, they have always had certain paths they follow, even though the entire yard is open. That is the same way it is with most animals. When I am deer hunting, it is strange to see that cows, deer, and other animals that live in the same area follow a lot of the same paths.

I am glad that your dogs are out of the kennel and had no ill effects from being there.

Is there a specific deadline when the other tenant has to be out?

  3. That tenant needs to move on. Any ideas when you can move in? I am so sorry to hear that. I am glad for the dogs.

    Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Our dogs have always done the same thing, too. We’ve still got dog-paths all over the yard from our old dog (who died last October).

Hello One Mom, I’m glad to see you here. I’ve been up in the mountains. How frustrating to have to wait for the home to vacate. I agree with Cat, Chaps and Emma — they need to move on! But I’m glad to hear that the dogs are out of the kennel; that is really good news.

Hi Susan – I’m sure the mountains were beautiful. Glad you had some time away. We are actually “in” the house now … barely. We all slept in the living room last night. I am off to work shortly, but will try to do a new post this evening.

I’m so glad you could move in – now the settling in process can begin. Yes, the mountains are awesome here (I don’t use that term lightly) – we were near the Matterhorn, in Zermatt.

Psalm 121 always comes to mind. ” … My help comes from Lord, the maker of heaven and earth!”
