Early Spring
The weather here in the Upper Peninsula has been glorious this month. Even in February, we had nary an inch of snow, but in March we have been in the 40s, 50s, and today we hit 61 degrees! Although meteorologists are suggesting we may be receiving a significant snow storm this weekend, for now we are soaking in the warmth and sunshine of early spring beauty. Below are some pictures from some recent walks. The dog is our Sussex Spaniel, Nell. Our Basset Hound (Sophie) has also been enjoying spring walks with me, but I keep forgetting my camera. The flowers are at our house – we are excited to see what unexpected beauty will appear around our new house, planted with great care by the family that lived here for almost 50 years!

Oh my gosh! What an incredible view! Can I move in! LOL
Sure Dominique! We have five bedrooms – come on over!
I just told someone today that I was missing Michigan. Although, our perfect weather is just beginning. I’ll really begin missing Michigan toward the end of May.
And we really enjoyed the surprise flowers during our first spring in Michigan.
Hi Vince – When we lived in SC, by the end of May it was regularly 90+ with massive humidity … I don’t miss that.
How is Katie doing? I hope her eye is improving … I continue to pray.
So crazy that you all have had a better February and March than us. I want to see the sun!
Hi Ronnica – it has been strange watching all the snow down your way, while we have had almost none. We are enjoying the sun and making good use of the beautiful weather while we have it.
What does spring smell like in UP?
Spring smells very fresh in the UP, especially being only a block from Lake Michigan! The blues in the sky and the lake have been amazing … I did nothing to enhance the blues in the photos of the shore. Simply incredible … it is good to be here and enjoying God’s beauty.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day and may God bless you and family!
Thanks for the prayers. We took Katie back to Houston for a contact lens fitting and she tested at 20/70. Not perfect. But, a huge change from 20/400 at the worst point.
We will start patching and vision therapy soon to try to get more improvement. Otherwise, we’ll end up with a cornea transplant in the summer. We are very grateful for the progress she’s made. Now praying she adjusts to the hard contact quickly and can deal with the patching.
Thanks for the update Vince. Will continue to pray for Katie. 20/70 is a huge improvement to be sure.
Just stunning. I wish I could hug Nell. She looks so soft.

Cat – Nell is as soft as she looks. I call her “smooshy”. She would love to climb in your lap and snore for several hours.
