Home Again
Finally home.
Yesterday (Friday), we hit one airline problem after another. At one point it appeared that we would not be arriving back home until sometime this evening! Thanks to American Airlines – especially one very diligent ticket agent in Chicago, we arrived very late last night and then had to drive 85 miles through driving rain, wind, and lots of thunder and lightning. It was so good to get home.
Here are some pictures … you should be able to guess where we have been this past week. Hannah had some amazing opportunities for field trips for homeschool and my husband did too! Because I was in meetings most of the time, I didn’t get to go to the coolest place, but I did get to see some things. The highlight of my week was meeting up with other residents of “Basset Hound Town“, Cindy and her four bassets: Jethro, Rugby, Ozzie and Harriet. It was a wonderful, heartwarming visit.
Enjoy the photos.

It is nice to hear you are well. You have been in my prayers.
Thanks for praying Frances – there were several times in various planes that I reminded myself that you and Susan were praying for us. On the bumpiest flight, the man across the aisle from me was reading a Bible – that may seem like a small thing to some, but for me it was a wonderful reminder that God knew exactly where I was and was taking care of everything. It is good to be home and have my feet on the ground.
So sorry to hear about your airline problems and the awful drive home but I’m glad you are home.
I really enjoyed the pictures. Looks like Hannah had a really great time. I’m so glad that she had a fun educational trip. I’m sure it’s something she’ll always remember.
On the way home from the park poor Rugs wanted to lay down in that front seat because he was so tired. But he was too long! When I got home they all took a long nap except for Harriet. She had to talk about everything then when Daddy got home she had to tell him the whole story! I had a fabulous time meeting and talking to you and the dogs loved the outing and the pets and belly rubs.
Hi Cindy – Thursday afternoon was truly the highlight of my week! Hannah has been working on a drawing of Jethro, Rugs, Ozzie and Harriet – I will share it with you when she completes it. I love the image I have in my mind of Rugs in your front seat and Jethro & Company in the back seat of your car – who wouldn’t love seeing a car full of basset hounds! I am sure they were exhausted – not at all surprising that Miss Harriet was the one who gave the full report at home though! Please greet the hounds and tell Jethro we understand how hard it is being him.
Hi sweetheart! I am so glad you made it home! I am so touched to see all of the pictures of your visit with Cindy and her houndage. I bet Hannah had a blast. I am going to do a blog as well. Can you imagine if Chaps, Emma and I were able to come? Do you think you will ever be near us for work? I sure hope so!
Hi Cat – Meeting Cindy and the “houndage” was such a treat! We referred to it as a BHT auxiliary town hall meeting! I don’t know if my work will bring me to BHT, but my husband will be running the Flying Pig Marathon next spring and that will bring us to BHT!
We talked about how much fun it would have been to have had you, your mom and Chaps and Emma with us at the town hall. Many hugs.
By the way, we can’t wait to see Hannah’s artwork!
We love you Hannah!
Slurp!
Glad you made it home safely!
Thanks Dominique – it is good to be home.
Hello from Chicago! I fly to Alaska today to see my family for a week. I’m so happy to read that you are comfortably at home. Traveling certainly stretches us and reminds us of how great the world is, but it’s so nice to return back home!
I was indeed praying for you all – I even wrote it in my daily calendar in case life got too busy; I didn’t want it to slip my mind. It blessed my heart to read about the fellow reading the Bible across the way. God is good.
AND the photos of the Bassets were Fabulous – I’m missing my Lucky dog a lot right now!
Have a good week -
Hi Susan – yes, God is good.
Lucky is probably missing you as well! Enjoy Alaska and time with your family. They are saying we might have 6-8 inches of snow this weekend (my husband mowed our grass yesterday)!!
Thanks for praying for us – I thought of you several times while flying, especially when the man across the aisle was reading and studying his Bible (I knew you would smile at that).
