National Dog Day

Today is National Dog Day. Below are some before and after photos of our Sussex Spaniel, Nell. She was in bad shape when she came to live with us four years ago. She’s almost 12 now and doing great. The other photos  are dogs who have left us and we still miss, and of course more photos of Nell and Sophie who remain part of our family. (Maxine – basset hound; Lolly – Collie; Snowflake – white dog; Scooter – my mom’s corgi).

Enjoy Dog Day! Remember if you are looking for a dog or any pet for your family, please visit your local pound, shelter or rescue.

I didn’t know it was National Dog Day!! Thanks for the wonderful photos of your doggies. My Lucky is almost 14 and still going strong. I think it’s the lifestyle here in Zurich – it agrees with him :-)

Lucky was a rescue dog – they make the sweetest pets, don’t you think?

I didn’t know it was dog day either. Cool! Thanks so much for letting us know. We’ll have to celebrate today with extra treats since we didn’t do it yesterday.

Thanks so much for mentioning to adopt from shelters and pounds. A lot more people are doing that but still not enough.

Hi Cindy – oh my, you missed dog day? I’m sure the hounds will require many extra treats to make up for missing the celebration. :) Give them all an extra hug and smile from Hannah!

  3. What a great blog posting. I already put it on my calendar for next year. I love all of the pictures.

Hi Cat – even after 4 years, the Nell transformation pictures amaze me. She was so weak and felt so miserable when we rescued her. Now 4 years later she is a happy old lady (with an unladylike snore!). Lolly was the most beautiful dog. Max of course was my precious basset hound … she was the sweetest, softest dog ever … I miss her everyday. Guess that’s why my gravatar is a picture of Maxine.

Yeah, I was looking for MY Friday Flier too. And I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend too.
