Hacked!

Hack – Use a computer to gain unauthorized access to data in a system.

OneMom and thousands of other blogs and websites were greeted with an ugly black screen early this morning announcing that our server had been hacked by someone called Tiger M@te.

From what I’ve read, it appears that mostly those with sites hosted by InMotion Hosting and WebHostingHub (the host for OneMom), were affected. Such an annoyance, and for many websites a loss of income.

All is well here at OneMom finally, thanks to The Urban Cowboy for early assistance and to the tech support at WebHostingHub for their concerted efforts to get the lion-share of this mess cleaned up by late this afternoon for most of their customers. Many are saying they will be moving their websites to other hosting companies, but considering that even the Pentagon has been hacked before, I don’t see any reason to move at this time. I will be doing a better job making sure my backups are current and that everything within my own site is as secure as possible.

Thanks to Cindy and all the Doyle Basset Hounds (Jethro, Rugs, Ozzie and Harriet) for alerting me to the problem early this morning.

For now, it’s good to be back.

Glad to see you got it all straightened out, Kerry. Just out of curiosity, what do you use for your backups?

Welcome back! I was worried when I saw the big nasty black screen yesterday morning. So glad it’s fixed.

  3. Yes, I was worried as well. Cindy told me and I was looking into your hosting company to see if they had any updates online. I couldn’t find anything but it seems the problem was fixed quickly. I don’t get why people do such evil things. Sad, really.
