- They announced that our gas prices were going up yesterday so I alerted my husband to purchase gas first thing in the morning. A couple of hours after he filled the tank, gas prices went down.
- Last weekend our Sussex Spaniel and Basset Hound (Nell & Sophie) had a short-lived adventure. I arrived home from work and since it was a nice day I let the dogs outside not knowing that my husband had been working out there and had the gate to their yard open. I went outside about 10 minutes later and realized the dogs were gone. We headed down the street looking for them and they were only a couple of yards away. Sophie came running to me, but Nell was running around in an excited circle. My husband finally corralled her and used his belt as an impromptu leash. Sophie followed happily along.
- Newt Gingrich says the Obama student loan plan is a ponzi scheme. The Income-based repayment plan would forgive whatever balance was left on the student loans after 20 years. I’m not sure what Mr. Gingrich is talking about or why President Obama is getting so much applause for this plan – I’ve been on the income-based repayment plan for my student loans for two years now and it has a 25-year forgiveness time period. I believe the current IBR was passed when Republicans were in charge, but that it actually started in 2009. Folks are complaining that Obama’s plan is only for recent student loans, but I don’t understand why they don’t get into the IBR that exists now.
- Have had several occurrences of snowflakes recently. The leaf color is well beyond prime.
- Herman Cain’s recent comments about abortion and his campaign ad about smoking has removed him from my list of possible candidates.
- It’s Friday. Make it a good day.

Wow, what a scare with the hounds. I am so glad they were not far. Today the leaf viewing in bassethoundtown was peak. The trees were bright red and looked neon. Just beautiful! It is a great Friday! Looking forward to the rest of the weekend!

Fortunately my worry lasted only about a minute. They are safe and snug and snoring in their beds.
Our leaves are about gone. I noticed today though that the Tamaracks are turning their beautiful golden color (like the picture in my blog header today). Two years ago when we moved here I was absolutely blown-away by the tamaracks, but last year they did nothing. Maybe it’s an every other year event. Glad you are enjoying your color display.
I have to agree about Cain. I’m really not impressed with him.
As for Gingrich talking about the student loans, I don’t think Gingrich is burdened with a surplus of conscience when it comes to criticism. Much like Romney, he’s rebuked some of his own positions.
I’m glad that the dogs were okay … that can be very scary.

Hi Ken – what I don’t get is why there is so much attention on Obama’s proposed income-based repayment plan for student loans, when such a plan has existed for more than 2 years now.
Yes, dogs are fine and my anxiety fortunately was very short-lived. With Nell being so blind and deaf, having her lost would be so awful. Sophie (the basset) is not quite 4, so at least she could hear us calling her and is good about coming when called. Anyway, they’re fine.
