Friday Flyer

  • Yesterday at dinner Hannah looked at me and said “Mommie, today is a day for giving thanks …. thank you Mommie”.
  • The headlines this morning don’t surprise me.
    • “10 injured in stampede at Walmart”
    • “gunshots fired at mall in North Carolina”
    • “brawl in Walmart over prices.
  • Interesting video of long lines at the Macy’s store in New York City … nearly every person I saw in line was Chinese.
  • The “occupy” movement is attempting to “occupy Black Friday” at big box stores. One of the participants said that retailers won’t change their ways until people start “shopping their values”. Unfortunately, people are shopping their values. There are never stampedes of people trying to get into church. The world would be an amazing place if folks flocked to Jesus they way they flock to Walmart.
  • In other news, our gas prices have dropped more than 20 cents in the last week to $3.33/gallon. That’s the lowest price in months.
  • One week from today is Hannah’s 10th birthday! My focus is on preparing to celebrate the birth of my precious girl.

It’s Friday. Make it a good day.

I stay clear of all stores on black Friday. No amount of savings is worth getting up in the middle of the night to go shopping or fighting the crowds. Although, I did have to get a prescription at Wal-Mart this morning when the pharmacy opened. I didn’t have a choice with that. Good thing was, the store was virtually empty! I guess because they opened at 10:00PM last night and everyone had already got their Wal-Mart stuff and moved to bigger and better stores.

What an exciting time for Hannah! 10 is a cool age. Don’t we wish we were all that age again? So, what are the plans?

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was very nice.

Hi Cindy – well the theme for Hannah’s birthday this year is Toy Story! I’ve got great things planned, but will have to keep the details under wraps right now. :)

OneMom, would you mind putting up a Ron Paul moneybomb widget on your blog and maybe doing a writeup about it?

  3. Oh my darlin’ 10 year old little angel to be. Howl very exciting. Where does the time go? Our girl is going to be 10! Toy Story is perfect.

Instead of shopping for Black Friday we did the reverse. Mom and I gathered all of Julian’s old toys and delivered them to the local community shelter. We had some really good stuff. Most of it was hardly played with and a lot of it was brand new. The toys almost filled the back of the basset hauling vehicle. Grandpa went overboard with his grandson and now some Grandpa might find something for their beloved family member. It was really touching for me because I had a dream last night that Dad told me to come and look at the stars with him.
