1. I don’t have a one most memorable Thanksgiving but I have to say that when I was young and more of my immediate family was living, Thanksgiving was a very special time and really enjoyable. I miss my grandmother and my great aunt who used to come and stay for a few days to help us fix the big meal. My grandmother taught me how to make the gravy and now that’s my job every year.
2. I’m having dinner with my sisters family and my mother.
3. I like the whole cranberries in my sauce but not everyone does. So, we have both!
Happy Thanksgiving Cindy and family!
Here are my answers:
1. Working at a community shelter preparing and serving Thanksgiving meals to those in need of a meal and people to share it with. A lot of work, but those were the best.
2. Just the 3 of us, here at home.
3. I’m not a fan of cranberry sauce, but I grew up with cranberry sauce coming out of a can whole, and then being sliced into perfect slices and arranged on a dish. There’s a local sandwich shop here that makes a wonderful chicken salad wrap with dried cranberries in it that is especially delicious.
My most meaningful/memorable Thanksgiving was the last one I spent with my Dad (2009), it was his favorite holiday because he loved to eat and he loved my sisters cooking so much. The same folks were at the table this Thanksgiving and he was the only one missing. My Dad loved the tin can cranberry but adored my sisters home made sauce. I cannot look at tin can of cranberry at the grocery store and not think of him. I love the tin can one.
Hi Cat – that is an especially precious memory. Thanks for sharing. (glad you’re feeling a bit better too).
This Thanksgiving was memorable because it is likely the last one that will be at my granddad’s house. He is 92 and dying of cancer. He is a follower of Jesus and prepared to go to the next life. It was nice to get to see him.
We had turkey, ham, broccoli rice casserole, corn casserole, green bean casserole, buns, gravy, and several desserts.
We eat cranberry relish and canned sauce.
