Friday Flyer

  • In yesterday’s “Thursday Three”, I asked my readers if they were capitalists or populists, but no one identified as either.
  • Capitalism (as defined by Merriam-Webster’s Learners Dictionary): a way of organizing an economy so that the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc.) are owned by individual people and companies rather than by the government .
  • Populism1. the principles and doctrines of any political party asserting that it represents the rank and file of the people.
    2. the principles and doctrines of a late 19th-century American party, especially its support of agrarian (agriculture/rural) interests and a silver coinage.
  • We picked up a treadmill from Craig’s List recently, and every time I use it, LuLu sits behind it and tries to put her paws on it. Silly cat.
  • I am ready for Spring. Even though we haven’t had huge amounts of snow so far this winter, it has been really cold and I’m ready to be warm.

Enjoy your Friday.

  1. I think the terms are too broad and the definitions too narrow. I really never label myself, beside being an advocate for homeless dogs. I like the label “advocate”.

My Mom and I want to buy a tread mill and are looking into it. It has rained for a year now so it is time to get real and face the facts that walking is not happening!

We only have 4 more weeks of winter left by my calculations. Let’s hope the Mayor does not see his shadow. Of course I will be blogging live on bassethog day!

Hi Cat – the terms capitalist and populist have been thrown around a lot this week by politicians, candidates and the media, and I felt like people really don’t have an understanding of what either one actually is. I find a lot of people saying they stand with the capitalist system, until it seems unfair to them personally.

Are you going to get a doggie treadmill too?

I wish I could think we only have 4 more weeks of winter left! Tell the Mayor I would appreciate it if he didn’t see his shadow.

  2. I might try the kids on the new tread mill. You know I will blog about it!

Ground dog day will be reported! NO SHADOW!

I’ll ID myself as a capitalist. I am also in favor of the gold standard, but I haven’t thought much about populism to firmly declare that I am one.
