Friday Flyer

  • Our gas prices have gone up 20 cents in the last 2 days (not sure about this morning yet). Looks like it may be time to pull out the Magic Snow Globe.
  • The Oscars are this weekend. I haven’t seen a movie in a theater since 2007 or 2008 (it was Horton Hears a Who).
  • A grandmother and step mother in Alabama have been charged in the death of a 9 year old girl. She ate a candy bar and lied about it; they made her run non-stop for 3 hours and she died. What is the matter with people?
  • There are a lot of children in our country living in emotionally and physically abusive situations every day … it breaks my heart.
  • The National Science Foundation is funding nearly $1 million to Virginia Tech to study the effect of stress on parenting skills … in birds
  • The IRS is spending $15 million on a PR campaign to improve their image with taxpayers. They are currently seeking a “full service communications and marketing company”.
  • For more about how the federal government is spending our money, visit the website of Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn.
  • Did you know on March 11th most of us will “Spring Forward” and return to Daylight Savings Time?

Hang on. It’s Friday.

I love these little bullet points on life.

The IRS PR campaign is a bit over the top isn’t it? I would be just fine to be rid of the IRS all together. We somehow survived as a country without it for at least 100 years.

Hypocritical coming from someone with a government funded job.

    • OneMom says:

You know David, you seem like such a negative person. Is there anything positive you can say about anything or anyone?

Yes, I have a government funded job. I work very hard and am making a huge difference in my community – especially in economic viability. Perhaps you would prefer I was on welfare and food stamps?

What are you doing to make your community stronger and economically sound?

  3. David says:

You’re supporting someone who wants to pretty much absolve the government… that’s what I find hypocritical.

You’re just lucky that Ron Paul isn’t a viable candidate so he won’t get elected and cut the funding for your job.

I’m a small business owner and employing people in my community. Not sucking off the government’s teat.

    • OneMom says:

I have answered this before. I’m not one of the people saying “we need cuts, but not my job” … I know full well that Ron Paul would eliminate my position, and I’m fine with that. I would love to have a job that wasn’t based in government, but that’s all I could find to take care of my family.

As I said before, even though I am government funded, I work very hard and the government is getting a good return for its money. Too bad you can’t applaud my work ethic. I’m not on welfare.
