On Friday afternoon our gas prices reached $3.99 (and 9/10ths!) per gallon for regular unleaded. That’s about 50 cents higher than two weeks ago. I don’t know if they’ve gone up more as I haven’t seen a gas station since Friday. It is going to be very difficult for average Americans to handle these rising gas prices and continue to survive financially.
While things look rosier on Wall Street and they declared the recession over a long time ago, things on Main Street are still very bleak. $4 or $5/gallon gas may be the last straw for many families.
How are gas prices where you are?

I am south of Houston and my gas was $3.49 a gallon when I filled up this past weekend.
I agree, what are people going to do? Not only is gas going up sky high but the food prices go up every single week. I shop weekly and something always goes up. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It would be alright if our paychecks were going up to offset the difference. Something has to give. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next.
I agree Cindy – something has to give, it’s a little disconcerting thinking what that might be though.
About 3.80 more or less. What I do notice on Main Street is a lot more folks riding the bus! Wow, it is fully packed come am and pm rush hour. I know if I worked outside of my home I would be right there, riding the bus, connecting to the internet. Too bad we don’t have the mass transit in place that other countries do.
And for us in the UP of Michigan, mass transit is practically non-existent. We can’t even get on a Greyhound bus without going somewhere else.
