Yesterday we took our 13 1/2 year old Sussex Spaniel (Nell) to the vet and found out she had cancer. She had to spend the night at the vet for a few procedures, but it was decided that we would keep her comfortable and enjoy time with her as long as she was not suffering. I took this picture of Rugs the Basset Hound in April 2010 while visiting Houston, Texas. A friend I only knew through Basset Hound Town online lived in the Houston area, and we were able to meet at a local dog park and spend time visiting with Cindy and her four basset hounds – Jethro, Rugs, Ozzie, and Harriet. Today is National Dog Day. Below are some before and after photos of our Sussex Spaniel, Nell. She was in bad shape when she came to live with us four years ago. She’s almost 12 now and doing great.
