The Summer of Swine Continues

We finished Babe: The Gallant Pig about mid-week and I must say again that I found the book to be much more charming and meaningful than the movie (which I also enjoyed). I felt that I knew the characters of Fly, Ma, Babe, and Farmer Hoggett much more so from the book than in the movie. As with Charlotte’s Web, Hannah and I were both sad when the book was over. Mandating Parent Involvement

Michigan’s Wayne County Prosecutor is pushing for legislation that would put parents in jail for three days if they fail to show up for at least one parent-teacher conference each year. The prosecutor, Kym Worthy is pushing for this in Detroit, in Wayne County, and if she can get a legislator to sponsor it, at the State level. Home Again

Finally home. Yesterday (Friday), we hit one airline problem after another. At one point it appeared that we would not be arriving back home until sometime this evening! Thanks to American Airlines – especially one very diligent ticket agent in Chicago, we arrived very late last night and then had to drive 85 miles through driving rain, wind, and lots of thunder and lightning. 300 Pieces

My daughter enjoys  puzzles, so this past week I decided to step her challenge up to a 300 piece, round puzzle. It had a lot of color gradients in it and no straight edge for the frame, so I was hoping it wouldn’t be frustrating for her … when will I learn? She was quite excited to show me her masterpiece when I arrived home today. Perhaps the next one should be 500 pieces? OneMom
