Life: The Foundational Right

“Without the right to life there are no other rights and the entire structure of human rights is threatened. Without the freedom to be born there are no other freedoms. Freedom is a good of the human person. Almost 50 million persons have not been able to exercise it because their lives were taken in the first home of the whole human race, their mothers womb, under the current practice of ‘legal’ abortion on demand in America.

Most people agree on the importance of economic freedom. … However, the market was made for man and not man for the market.

A truly free market must be at the service of the human person, promote human flourishing, serve marriage and the family, expand the circle of participation and recognize our obligations to one another and to the poor and serve the common good.” Deacon Keith Fournier February 2, 2008

Deacon Fournier’s words matched my thoughts this morning. I have been accused of being a “one-issue voter”, specifically a right-to-life voter. Those who make this accusation don’t (or won’t) understand that I am not a one-issue voter, but that I do have my issues in a hierarchy and life is the foundation issue. It was for our founding fathers as well:

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. (Declaration of Independence)

Without life, you immediately lose the right to liberty and the opportunity to pursue happiness.

Life is not the only issue I base my vote on, but it is and must be the foundational issue … anything else would be illogical.

Mike Huckabee is the only candidate with the correct foundation.

We must stand for life. We must be the somebody and do the something … today … there is no time to lose. All who believe in the right to life no matter how small or how old that life, must stop listening to the pundits and talking heads and vote your convictions! Do not “settle”, because that will mean you will settle for the deaths of millions more United States citizens.

If you support the right-to-life, you must vote for Mike Huckabee.
