In my previous post “Driving Quietly”, Cindy commented that it looked like a nice day for my husband to repair my car. For the UP of Michigan in March it was incredibly nice – 48 degrees! As we are about a block from the Lake Michigan shore, we were running almost 30 degrees cooler than those along Lake Superior (just 45 miles north). Weather’s been beautiful this last week here in the UP. Overnight the wind and rain moved in, which should finish up the last of the autumn colors by the end of the day. Most of our roads here in the UP are two lanes, but they have built in a lot of “passing lanes” so there are plenty of opportunities to get around slow vehicles. Democratic Wisconsin lawmakers left the state yesterday so the legislature would not be able to vote on the budget. A union leader said these legislators are showing “courage”. I say they are being cowards and sore losers because the republicans have the majority. I am sick of hearing the unions say they have a “right” to their jobs, their bargaining options, and their money. They also said that bargaining doesn’t cost the state any money …read more…
I’ve observed that many people drive too fast – especially on small neighborhood streets with posted speed limits of only 25 mph. They also run stop signs with barely a slow-down. How are your driving behaviors? Personally, I’m a speed-limit kind of person, and I obey traffic signs. Buy hey, I still whisper in the library.
